Aim
To establish a course that is universally acceptable and a gold standard for gall bladder surgery safety in the UK and Ireland
Key Objectives
1. Enhance Surgical Safety: Equip surgeons with the knowledge and skills to minimise complications, focusing on critical safety steps like the “Critical View of Safety” (CVS) technique.
2. Standardize Training: Develop a universally applicable, evidence-based curriculum that is adaptable across regions and institutions with transferable skills.
3. Validate Efficacy: Implement initial robust validation methodologies with the help of senior faculty with some trainee input to ensure the course is reproducible and reliable.
4. Foster Collaboration: Partner with upper GI surgeons, OG surgeons, HPB surgeons, general surgeons with upper GI interest and Bariatric surgeons, leveraging all-around expertise, networks, and resources.
5. This should result in enhancing the reputation and membership drive in the coming years
Overview

The first iteration of the Cholesafe course will be launched at the end of 2025, focussed on safely performing elective cholecystectomy with future iterations tackling the more complicated "hot" gallbladder and robotic cholecystectomies.

Cholesafe 1 will be targeted towards middle-grade and senior trainees entering upper GI surgery
